As a rapper, I love word play, puns and of course rhyme. Hip-Hop raised me! One of my all time favorite songs is Slick Rick's @therulernyc "Children's Story". The level of #storytelling was amazing. I'd never heard anything like it as a kid. I could visualize everything he was saying. I also enjoyed children's books that were written in rhyme #DrSeuss
Reading and writing became my favorite things to do early on. A teacher told my mom that I had an overactive imagination. She saw this as a negative thing. By 3rd grade, I was tested and then placed in the gifted arts program.
By 10, my older brother (Rest in Honor) introduced me to 8 Ball & MJG's "Armed Robbery", which I definitely should not have been listening to. I still know every bar by heart😆😆. Another dope storytelling song.
They inspired me to write my first rap...which was....also... about armed robbery! It was DOPE! I realized, at the age of 10, I was and will forever be a great writer.
In college, I wasn't flashy with my gift. I wrote raps for fun and as a creative outlet. No one knew I had bars. But sooner or later I would get around a bunch of college kids. Some dude would start playing the latest beat he made and dudes would start freestyling. It was like a ritual. The beat would draw you in and you couldn't sit quiet for long. "Tray, kick a freestyle!" So I did. The reaction was always shock and amazement. I thought it was hilarious😆😆
Rapping and writing are like breathing air to me. It's natural and necessary.
I always look for ways to hone my craft. Reading is one of them. One day, after reading about all the different collective nouns, I came across the collective noun, *sleuth of bears* and a light bulb went off💡I am a huge fan of Sherlock Holmes, who just happens to be one of the greatest *sleuths* of all time. Then I thought about what crime these sleuths could 'solve' and remembered the collective noun, *a murder of crows*. It made PERFECT sense.
I love what I do. I love to rap. I love to write. I love to create unique and unorthodox things.
I ask that you support my journey and the many creative projects on the way.
